I have been searching on Pioneer website and could not found a place for downloading new formwares for DVD players.
I have never had a Pioneer before. Do you know what is the best firmware for this player?
I think it has a Mediatek, maybe it is a MT1389 chip but I am not sure.

Thanks a lot.

The player's only around six months old so Pioneer probably havent got around to releasing any upgrades yet...

By-the-way... It's fitted with an MediaTek chip-set. Which is very common for Pioneer players offering both DVD-A and SACD playback support...

That said, Zoran's Vaddis 888 chip-set now offers DVD-A and SACD playback support too!

Hi!

Do you have a specific reason to think you need a firmware update for this player?

I just got my new Pioneer DV-393-s. It is an entry level DVD player that does not support DVD Audio and SACD and I have opened up the player to find out that it has a Mediatek 1389 FE chipset. The manual states that it does not support playing MP3/WMA VBR (variable bit rate), has anyone tried playing those format?

Maybe a different codepage selection for Mpeg4 text based subtitles...

Superb pages. Thanks a lot!
I asked about FW because normally the last ones have the best improvements.

About the 64bit's question:
It supports MP3/WMA VBR without any problem. I tested it with DIVXTestCD 2.

Thank you thorz, for helping me to test it out, seams like the user manual is outdated. I am not sure if Pioneer is releasing official firmware for users to install as all I found is hacked/modified unofficial firmware. I can't find any firmware for download at Pioneer's official website, other brands such as Philips does offer firmware download.

You are welcome.
The only pity thing about this player is how badly the XVID that use packed bitstream stutter.
I have just made it regionfree with a remote hack :)
