I capture OTA HDTV with ATI Wonder into MCE as dvr-ms.
Edit commercials with VideoReDo
Create d2v file with DGIndex
Use FitCD to generate resizing data.
Encode with TMPGEnc using avs script file to 720x480 DVD.
Author with DVD-Lab Pro
Burn with Nero

Capture is 1280x720

Very good quality DVD output, but about 40 pixels are cut from each side of the screen when playing back (Sony 4:3 TV, Cyberhome 300 Player). Same results with second Sony 4:3 and Magnavox Player). Have tried 4:3LB, 4:3PS and 16:9 setting on Player, 4:3 and 16:9 on TV. Sides are always cut off.

When the DVD is played on the computer, no pixels are cut.

Have also encoded as anamorphic with TMPGEnc set to 16:9. Same results. Have encoded with HDTV2DVD with same results.

Any ideas?

40 pix ~ 5% of the picture.

TVs have a 10% overscan. they'll cut off 10% of the picture, and that's normal.

some TVs (i've only seen it in studio monitors) have an "underscan" button that reduces the scanning area and allows you too see outside this area (it's good for looking for problems like visible VITC or deinterlacing artefacts in the top lines).

this is why titles and words on TV are always placed 15% inside the frame - otherwise it'll be cut off.

Re-encoded as 16:9 anamorphic with overscan2. Puts almost all the picture on screen and has good quality.

Thanks, Guys:)
