.flv video quality?

Anybody knows if .flv bitrate usage is more similar to h263 or h264 or what?
(--> if the compression is more similar to h263 or h264)

it doesn't exist an approsimative comparison of codecs compress ratio (like: an h264 is 4/5 of the same quality h263) I can use for trancoding between them?

FLV1 is H.263 or H.263+ I think. FLV4 is VP6. Quality of VP6 is good, but a bit lower than XviD and DivX, which in turn are lower than H.264.

I'll leave the quality/size ratio estimates to the experts.

Yes, Vp6 it the best quality, but slowly.

h.264 = mpeg-4 avc (x264, ND AVC etc.)
h.263 != mpeg-4 asp (DivX, XviD etc.)

I would expect h.263 quality to be lower then mpeg-4 asp. But the concrete implementation is much more important then the format itself. XviD is better then many h.264 codecs, LAME MP3 is better then many AAC encoders etc.

I never tested VP6, I don't like the format at all. I wouldn't use it even if it had the best quality of all.
