DVD to avi for archos 504

I am having trouble getting this to work. Information I was given is sketchy and now I am stuck. Understand I need DVD decrypter first then to encode but which program is best and where can I find step by step instructions.

The MPG4 Guide (http://www.doom9.org/divx-encoding.htm) should give you some tips. You'll have to check the specs of your player to configure the codec accordingly.
