I'm considering dropping DirecTV, but I've never wanted to part with the ease of use I have with my HDTiVo unit. What I have (and use) - I'm in the US.
HR10-250
* Antenna on the roof - HD local channels, fed through the HDTiVo
* Dual HD Tuners
If I go with cable, they don't have:
* HD DVR (just an HD Receiver)
* Dual tuner HD Receiver
Anyone have a similar setup with cable where you can:
1) Record over-the air HDTV (seems trivial, the easiest to accomplish) in MCE
2) Record HDTV cable, 2 tuners, in MCE.
So from what I've gathered, my cable box would output Component Video. I want to make sure I can use Media Center to record a 1080i program, and use the main video card output over DVI. I don't want to use a Capture Card to output to the TV, and I don't want to use any Composite or SVIDEO inputs.
There seem to be lots of unique solutions out there (and I've been researching this for hours) but obviously other than buying things I have no way of testing anything. So yes, I'm looking for opinions, but also I simply don't know what will work for me and really don't want to start buying things that may or may not work.
I know CableCard is coming out for PC's soon, but I doubt my cable provider will jump on board right away. It will probably be at least a year before they even consider it.
If anyone has any ideas how I can accomplish this, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks!
