If you prepared the disc/files but then decide to remove some audio streams, do u need to prepare the files again for encoding??
Or will the xtra bitrate be allocated back to the video automatically ?

Yes, you must run PREPARE again. The PREPARE stage calculates all the bitrates and creates the the ECL file used for encoding. Removing audio after PREPARE will result in undersizing, deciding to keep something that was removed will result in oversizing.
Of course any changes made using the viewer/editor, however, recalculates bitrates and updates the ECL.

based on the number of of errors/mistakes, would it be possible for either:
pressing the encode button checks audio streams versus prepare and warns if different
or
if audio selection changes encode button greyed out so you have to run prepare again

I'm trying not to be too restrictive. There are times when people want to change things purposely, for example suppose you decided to remove one stream and keep another instead. If I put restrictions into the processing it would require a complete reencode.

Trying to understand this...In order to load the files into RB you have to click "prepare" correct?
Then, should you choose to eliminate audio and subtitles you would need to click "prepare" again? I have not been doing so. :(
Using the editor to blank out unwanted items just click "save and exit"?
Can you effectively use the editor in the 1 click mode?
Newby questions I am sure. Sorry.

To load the files just pick the source directory. You can then select your options (Audio/subs, encoder to use, back up mode, any advanced options) and click Prepare.
After the prepare is done if you make any other changes, except via the built in editor, then you have to run prepare again.
To use the editor just make your changes and click "Save and exit" otherwise the changes are not committed. You cannot use the editor with 1-click because it needs to be used after the Prepare step, but before the Encode step.

Thank you, I think I understand it now. This would explain why I have had space on the edges of my burn disc. Not running prepare again.
:thanks:

Just remember not to run PREPARE after you've made changes with the editor... because all your changes will be discarded.
