View Full Version : Problems Splitting a DVD with DVDFab

I've just ripped a large DVD (7GB) with DVD Decrypter and processed it with DVDFab to create two DVD-5s. I used "Copy complete DVD" and allowed it to set the break point in the files.

When I play the disks, disk 1 runs fine and has all the menus, etc on it. At the end it tells me to insert disk 2.

When disk 2 is inserted into my dvd player at the TV I get a message to insert disk 1. There are no menu options and I can not get beyond that screen. When I insert it in my DVD on the computer
it starts playing about 20% into the disk.

Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong?

I guess you are using the old free version of DVDFab (0.17).

If you want menus on both DVDs, use VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) to split - guide on the site.

Yes, I am using the old free version of DVDFab, but it doesn't appear to be working the way it should. According to the documentation there should be nothing on disk 2 that would hinder playing of the second half of the movie. There should be only movie on that disk since all the menus were placed on disk 1. Any ideas?

I repeated the DVDFab splitting of the files and burned a new disk 2 using a different brand of disk. Same problem so its probably not the burn.

When disk 2 is inserted into my dvd player at the TV I get a message to insert disk 1.

I think it is the feature of DVDFab(0.17) which replece the not replaying cell to "Insert Disc 2(or1)"
If not like, it needs another processing.
So for example, original is
Cell_1:::Vob-ID=1
Cell_2:::Vob-ID=2
Cell_3:::Vob-ID=3
Cell_4:::Vob-ID=4
After splitted,
Disc_1
Cell_1:::Vob-ID=1
Cell_2:::Vob-ID=2
Cell_3:::repladed to "Insert Disc 2"
Cell_4:::repladed to "Insert Disc 2"
Disc_2
Cell_1:::repladed to "Insert Disc 1"
Cell_2:::repladed to "Insert Disc 1"
Cell_3:::Vob-ID=3
Cell_4:::Vob-ID=4

I repeated the DVDFab splitting of the files and burned a new disk 2 using a different brand of disk. Same problem so its probably not the burn.Why don't you try blutach's excellent suggestion? DVDFab, especially the free version, has many problems, while VobBlanker is (almost) bug free.

If you want to add an Insert Disc 2 at the end of the movie, you can do it with PgcEdit, after the split with VobBlanker. (in PgcEdit, use Title -> Import Title's Closing Clip.)

Just a follow-up.

I switched to DVDFab Platinum and it worked fine.
