Hi,
I am trying to divide a H.264 TS recording into 2 pieces (or cut TS recordings in general) but did not find a way to get it to work like I want :) - the recordings donīt work in PowerDVD after I cut them. The reason seems to be the missing PMT/PAT in the beginning of the file. All solutions I found here e.g. recommend to cut at the beginning of e.g. "00 00 00 01 67" or "00 00 01 E0" - but this is e.g. not a TS header starting with "47".
When I use TSPlayer (from the DVBViewer package) for cutting a file recorded with the TT software, the header gets cut off and PowerDVD is not able to play this recording anymore.
Cutting away the PAT/PMT from the original file and putting it at the beginning of the cut file also does not seem to work - there are sync errors reported by ProjectX, and to be honest, I donīt have any idea of the internal structure of TS packets (yet).
Using the HDTVPump method does not work here as the software crashes when opening the file.
I did recordings with a TT-budget 3200 with
1. the original TT software
2. DVBViewer
Files recorded with the original TT software and DVBViewer in general can be played back both with PowerDVD and Media Player classic (if you are using a CAM and the original software, recordings donīt work on MPC as the TT software seems to record also some encrypted packages in the beginning which makes MPC go mad).
The difference between the TS made by the TT software and the TS made with DVBViewer is, that the TT software writes PMT and PAT once directly at the beginning of the file while DVBViewer seems to write PMT and PAT several times within the file, not necessarily at the beginning.
Cutting files recorded with DVBViewer (which does e.g. not support CAMs yet as it uses the BDA drivers for accessing the card) might/will work (havenīt tested yet) as PowerDVD seems to look for the next valid PAT/PMT packets even if they are not located directly at the beginning of the file.
Of course, there might be a way to demux, cut and remerge this to an MKV, but I want to stay in the TS format first as in general TS is more "widespread" :) - I donīt believe that a TVX H.264 or a any other H.264 playerback hardware might support MKV - unfortunately.
