plasma TV...

each time I look at a plasma screen, I have headache...and I dont know why.I dont have one, and I don't like this technology because it makes me sick...

these screens runs hot, and I "feel" it. and there is something In the luminosity I don't like.there is no radiation from plasma so I don't understand my problem...

when I watch at LCD screen, I have no problem at all...i have no problem with DLP running with a wheel color at 2x.
the image look "soft" and I can stay hours in front of a LCD screen or DLP projector.


can you explain me why I can not stand plasma ?

I don't like Plasma TV. I don't have a problem watching it. But, they're power-hogs and heavy. In five years you'll have a hard time finding any in the stores.

i think they are to bright, or it s the refresh rate which gives me a headach...I dont know.

when is ee these new LCD screens, I think plasma is soon dead, in 2 years maybe...

the futur is laser for hudge screens, and LCD for privat, becasue LCD is cheap to build.

I really doubt the brightness is the cause. Liquid crystal displays tend to have very bright backlights. Check out the measurements at

It might be the fact that some plasma displays adjust the overall brightness of the image based on the content to reduce the power consumption. This "pumping" of brightness might be the cause. Another way in which plasmas differ from LCDs is that the different color gradations are produced by pulse modulation: pixels are turned on and off in rapidly.

I still prefer CRTs, real black, good contrast and colors, no banding, no pixel errors, variable resolution + refresh rate and lightning fast response time... the only downside is the size!

Ahaha, I thought that might be something related to OLED, but had to look it up - because I thought of the other SED, "Smoke Emitting Diode" (aka dead). :D

I've heard talk about increasing the LCD speed 2X and haveing the LCD stay at multiple of the input refresh and interpolating up to the speed that its running at
I think that would require a wee bit more power than to just decode the signal and apply some gamma correction though...

but SED would be nice

i'd settle for any of these screens that use more than 8 bits to do their "magic".

i want to puke when i see subtle gradients turned into sub-standard error-diffusion dithers and ugly shades of pink and green (where it should be grey). reminds me of the early days of the net where GIF animations were rife... and i wouldn't pay Plasma prices to watch gif animations...
