hy

i have a dvb-s2+ tv card
with cyberlink powerdvd 7

when i try to play a hdtv mpeg4 channel
with hardware acceleration enable (codec of powerdvd)
end using video render to : dx9 or dx7

the screen turn off after 10-12 sec
the sound still playing
end if i wait +- 1 minute
i get a bleu screen with nv4.disp.dll ...

i uninstall the driver 91.47 install 92.91
end patched powerdvd

but still the same probleme

when i set video render to : overlay
it don't crash but i have a black screen (sound is playing)

end when i play a mkv (x264 video) with bsplayer or media player clasic end the cyberlink codec (hardware acceleration enable)
i got this

1. Wich muxer/demuxer/parser was used in the Matroska pipeline ?
2. Did you used the new Cyberlink Decoder 1.7.0.2203 for Playback ?
3. Is the video the whole time that scrambled or does it show up later on playback ?
4. Does the problem occour with every Matroska H.264 Video ?
5. Could you please show a screen with the pin info of the video renderer ?
6. Without Use DxVA the problem is gone ?
7. Did you tried it without overclocking ?

VMR7 most probably won't work with DXVA on Nvidia's Driver they optimize everything for VMR9
also Cyberlink doesn't like every Stream it gets i had it many times that the raw bitstream played well but muxed into a container
it wouldn't play @ all (black screen) especialy with Sat recordings that have some strange start headers.
One application i could follow the problem to was GPAC Mp4box it seems that sometimes Cyberlink doesn't like those and also if they get converted to .mkv then it gets problematic.

1. Wich muxer/demuxer/parser was used in the Matroska pipeline ?

haali media sliptter 1.6.224.23

2. Did you used the new Cyberlink Decoder 1.7.0.2203 for Playback
?

yes i update to the last version

3. Is the video the whole time that scrambled or does it show up later on playback ?

no it s not the whole time it s 7-8 sec scrambled than clear 4-5 sec ...

4. Does the problem occour with every Matroska H.264 Video ?

no, it less scrambled on lower resolution end bitrate
higher the resolution, more it's scrambled

and it play fine when i uncheck dxva
and play fine with over codec's

5. Could you please show a screen with the pin info of the video renderer ?

without it work perfectly but i need it for hdtv

7. Did you tried it without overclocking ?
yes same crash when whatching dvb s2 or playing the recorded .ts file (with cyberlink codec only)

nvidia driver beta 92.91
try a different driver, even older ones.

DarkZell666
28th October 2006, 14:35
also try the ones produced by your graphics card manufacturer (MSI, leadtek, gigabyte, etc.) instead of the generic ones :)

you don't even always need the latest drivers anyway since they only support and extend functionalities required by NEW graphic cards. If you have a geforce 4 for example, you're even better of sticking to the old 5x.xx driver versions.

carlo_0000
28th October 2006, 20:28
ok i will try

the oldest driver what i still have is
81.84

going to try it

olso
81.95
81.98
84.12
91.28
91.33

hope that 1 of them works

thanks for help

i see minimum for h264 is 84.12

tested 84.12
i get this :

http://perso.latribu.com/tribu/drv%2084.12.JPG

and hdtv h264 .ts won't play :( :(

with 91.28 it plays end crash like 92.91 :( :(

im going to make a scandisk and a ghost

and installing a clean xp and trying

Nvidia's newer drivers are incredibly useless for AGP cards. I wouldn't waste my time. 9x.xx drivers together with 6600 GT AGP can't even playback MPEG-2 properly (hardware deinterlacing is broken) let alone AVC.

4. Does the problem occour with every Matroska H.264 Video ?

no, it less scrambled on lower resolution end bitrate
higher the resolution, more it's scrambled

and it play fine when i uncheck dxva
and play fine with over codec's

Seems like an indication that the Bus Speed isn't enough i doub't Nvidia has any interest or even can improve this for their AGP Hardware im sorry :( Jay Bee is fully right here in Comparsion i have a cheap 7600 GS PCIE practicly the sequel to your Card and it runs fine with DXVA Hardware Accelleration, sorry but this is how the IT Biz works you have to Adapt or just can use SD resolutions with Hardware Acceleration :(
Best (only) solution for you seems to be a very fast Software Mode Decoder like CoreAVC with your CPU power :)

carlo_0000
29th October 2006, 04:25
i have reinstalled a proper version of xp + drivers ..
but crash when playing

i alredy tested CoreAVC
it s not fast enough (still a litle lag)
end can't use it in my dvb vieuwer (driver is stil not bda)

than i need to wait for the bda driver and using a alternat dvb vieuwer where i can choose a other codec like dvbdream

and who is that possible that the agp bus is not fast enough ?
i can't imagine that h264 codec need more bandwith than a game

With my 6600 AGP I get the Hw acceleration for H.264 (with the Cyberlink codecs that come with the TT-3200 driver CD): it's not a huge hit, but it does help a lot. I can watch channels like Luxe Tv on 13E with my P4 3.0 Ghz without a problem for instance, also the DVB-S2 channels on astra 19.2E (like Anixe or the Astra Promo) work pretty fine. Have you tried using latest AltDVB as DVB program?

CoreAVC is faster than CyberLink + ANY current hardware acceleration...

If CoreAVC cant handle it, it's time you buy a new PC...

This isn't true for high bitrate MBAFF AVC. My A64 @ 2.5 Ghz can't play the BBC test clips, my 6600 GT can. The review only tests apple trailers.

My Htpc:
P4 3.0Ghz (Northwood) with HT on
Asus P4R800-VM
512Mb DDr ram in dual channel
Manli 6600 256MB AGP video card (with all 9x.xx Forceware driver it works much the same, maybe 92.91 was the most performing set afaics, but also latest whql drivers set works OK).

CoreAVC doesn't work fine in my setup, and not as performing as the Cyberlink H.264 codec

PS of course, TT-3200 DVB-S2 PCI card by Technotrend too

@Sharktooth

i have to agree with JayBee that test is not correctly done it takes only low complex samples into account.
i tested all of them with bitrates up to 77 Mbit as of now and i can say that Nvidias(Cyberlinks,Elecard) (7600 GS PCIE G73) accelleration fails completly (in accelleration terms) in my extreme Intermediate test where CoreAVC decodes Realtime but for more standard streams Nvidias accelleration is a tad better again the most heavy case you see improvements with Nvidias accelleration is Multitasking as the CPU is less used and other processes can use it better then with CoreAVC it would be nice to have a tool that can show the GPU usage i doubt takeing the less cpu usage and add it to the GPU would give the correct percentage but im gonna display it in my results that way didn't found another way yet to show GPU (Shader) usage.

@crisidelm

GFX driver ?

ah did you test for a IRQ problem and also don't forget to update your system drivers to the latest also a Bios update maybe can help.

CoreAVC is not able to play it

cpu is not @ 100% but i can't play it

with the most video's i have this :
1280p

http://perso.latribu.com/tribu/coreavc.JPG

but this 1 is beter (but it lag)
1920*1080

http://perso.latribu.com/tribu/coreavc%201920.JPG

i can't understand why the second play beter and it s olso a progressive (when open in megui it say it's progressive)

i tested the 1st 1 with cyberlink and dxva (don't crash) but have +- same problem like coreavc

it only crash with 1920*1080 i think than

i think it s the ram what is not fast enough
i see you have dual channel

and i tested when lower the ram freqence , faster it crash

Is MPC output (in the options) set to Overlay?
Also you have a lot of stuff open in the background... ensure you kill all those apps interfering with the video (like graphedit, etc...) and sucking up CPU cycles.
Also have you tried removing the overclock?

did you ever overclocked your GFX card maybe it's damaged are you expirience problems in 3D Games also ?
or do you maybe use a modded bios with different settings (RAM) for it that also can cause problems that are only viewable then in Video or 3D look @ your card manufactures website for a Bios update or reports of Video Playback problems and don't forget to update your system bios and lookout for options in your bios that have NVIDIA in it or something like AGP P2P Deep Fifo.

it s from the m6hd test channel on ab3

it changed alredy 1 time
that wat i recorded a day befor , it play beter (pic is clean) (1440*1080)

and that what i recorded some day later olso very better
i see it s' 1964*1080
(dxva crash too but) in software mode the picture is clean

i retested the dxva with a tft screen
