One of my friends who has hd tv transmission has captured a space documentary (3 hrs.) and has encoded it to x264, avi with ac3 audio (2 audio streams, cantonese & mandarin), and it is spanning over 3 cd's, fortunately, he also has english subs for them (vobsubs from some discovery dvd), but he has also split the subs in sync with cd's, so now is it possible to make a single stream (avi or mkv or mp4) out of 3 avis by joining them somehow, and at the same time, also muxing subs with them and excluding the 2nd audio stream, can someone give some advice, i know mkvtoolnix does not accepts x264 avi material, what to do, please help...

Under the muxing Tab / Add command line options
--engage allow_avc_in_vfw_mode
Allows storing AVC/h.264 video in Video-for-Windows compatibility mode, e.g. when it is read from an AVI
Or , extract the avc and audio you wish to keep from the avi's and mux to mp4's (yamb) - then add/append in mkvtoolnix
