Hello there.

I'm rather new to this forum and I don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but I'm giving it a go.

I've been decrypting and rebuilding quite a few movies now and it's all been a walk in the park except this particular one (After The Sunset). The rebuild finished as it should've, but it left me with a file at the size of 4,837 GB. I guess I won't have to tell you that this won't fit on a normal DVD thus I would very much like to reduce the size of it. I could always do another rebuild and chose to remove the extras (the disc is a total of 8,358 GB so I'm guessing there's quite a lot of extras on it as it's not a particulary long movie (1H 38M), but since this take around 1000 minutes I would very much like to avoid that. So basically what I'm wondering is: If there's a way that i can remove something I don't need (like extras etc) from my VIDEO_TS folder so that I can fit it on a 4.7GB disc (and of course also leaving the disc fully operatable)?

What version of DVD-RB are you using? Also, are you doing any pre or post processing?

The only time I've seen something like this happen, it was the result of changes in audio removal between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases. For example if you decided to remove an AC3 track during prepare, but paused the job during encode, changed the setting, and continued. The bitrates would have all been calculated based upon the original settings, and the additional audio would cause an oversize.

Another possibility would be incorrect TargetSectors values -- have those been set?

You might try removing any unused audio tracks (like director's commentary or non-native languages) and performing a REBUILD in 3 click mode in order to get the size back down.

You can also use pgcedit + FixVTS afterwards to remove some extras you do not need

I am using v. 1.09.2.

I haven't done anything besides decrypting it onto my drive and then started the rebuild.

I have not changed any settings since I installed the program. I have not set any TargetSectors either. Is that important and where may I find this option?

Thanks for the info on those progs Penecho. I'll look into it.

Target size is normally not needed, but infos about that are here:

That's a really old version -- there have been a ton (11 versions) of updates since then. One of the most important is handling of unreferenced sectors... source disc formats have changed a lot since that was released last March.

You really need to upgrade.

Hi.

I tried messing a bit around with the pgcedit, but how do I know which files that are "ok" to delete (what won't result in a faulty disc)?

Uso VobBlanker to strip audio/extras - very simple. PgcEdit is a very steep learning curve.
