Hi,
It's my third NEC. Second one got an overvoltage. First one still working on my wife's puter (mainly reading). Third and actual one is an ND 4550A and no problem at all, have burned about 6 to 8 dvd-singleL per month plus a few RW +or- for more than one year with it.
You guys stay covered, don't want to catch that cold :D

I've heard that the Plextor line is a tiny bit faster, sometimes capable of 18x. They also have a SATA interface, which sure is groovy.
But they cost $120. You can buy 4 NEC or LiteOn drives for that much :P

*cough [wrong forum section] cough*
This section is: "All about standalone media players (DVD, SVCD, VCD, MPEG-4 (DivX, XviD, etc.))"... Which a DVD-ROM drive aint
Surely this question should be moved to the Hardware & Software (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=16) section?
Cheers
