hi people,
I started this thread to warn people about a problem that they may meet while transcoding Ogg using foobar.

how did I discover this problem ?
first I reencoded a VIDEO track from an MKV file and after I transcoded the audio track (Ogg) to mp4 (neroAAcenc.exe) using foobar, after all was reencoded I muxed both the reencoded files video and the MP4 audio file using MKVtoolnix 1.7.0 and  damn!! audio video disynchronisation, I thought first it was a VFR problem and tried numerous tools for that but all tools say it was the video was CFR, suddenly I tried the original audio (the ogg coming with the original MKV file) and BANG everything is synchronised and the video didn't need a time code at all.

what I found is that the transcoded Ogg audio using foobar was transcoded using besweet according to the encoded file properties, and what realy took my attention was the audio track length, the original (Ogg)had 27:12 and the encoded(MP4) had 26:32 !!! and that was the problem of the audio dsynchronisation. To be sure of that I reencoded again the original audio (Ogg) using SNG and bepipe, muxed the output audio with the encoded video and BAAAANG everything is synchronised and working pafecto.

I hope this may help someone someday.

one Question. is it possible to prevent foobar from using besweet ?

1/ Using BeSweet with fb2k is useless because this player takes directly command lines tools to transcode.
2/ Transcoding a lossy-to-lossy format is more than useless...

I didin't use it , foobar used it automaticly !!! how and why ? I don't know but the file I transcoded has tags shoing it was transcoded using besweet.

Automatically is not possible...The vorbis file that you have has been transcoded within BeSweet. Might be more reasonable.

btw, if you don't know how your input has been created, then question is where it comes from ? In this way, please read the rules...

hi people,
I transcoded the audio track (Ogg) to mp4 (neroAAcenc.exe) What settings did you use for neroaacenc?

If the resulting file was HE-AAC, then you can't just mux it into mkv... IIRC there is a checkbox in the mkvmerge gui to specify that the aac track has sbr (else you get audio/video desync).

yes it's SBR and I did check the box but still have disynchronisation
btw I used SBR samples transcoded from MP3 (using fb2k without using besweet) and without checking the AAC SBR checkbox and I get audio/video synchronised :)

I know it's impossible but I didn't never specify to fb2k location of besweet !!
the original source is AC3 and then using megui to Ogg and then I transcoded the it to AAC (because I don't have the AC3 anymore)
what I don't understand is why besweet trancated the audio file !!!
btw when I transcoded mp3 -> AAC I don't have such problem
check the attachement
1. is the vorbis
1 1. is AAC

anyway it's just a warning

to give another experience, i just did the same action today and the audio came out fine.

- opened ogm in VDM, demuxed the vorbis audio.
- dropped the vorbis into foobar2000
- decoded to wav.

video and audio were in sync just fine.

PS, unless your foobar setup is wacky, foobar should be using internal decoders for vorbis - it comes stock with vorbis, ac3, aac, mpc, mp3, blahblahblah format support. very useful program indeed.

did you check the file tags are they signed by besweet ?
if no I think that besweet is the problem :P
thanx for confirming "Mug Funky" :) I hope that I am the wrong here :D
