I have a video I distribute on CD.
It is encoded in Indeo 5.1 which no longer ships as standard with windows.
can anybody give me a list of video codecs that ship with standard WIN XP home and professional.
I want to recode my videos so they will play straight out of the box without the user having to download any new codecs.
i have searched for the last week for an answer with no luck so far.
many thanks

Open VirtualDub and go to Video\Compression.
All codecs that you didn't install yourself came with your XP :)

Thank you.
Looks like SP2 has me covered.
One of my clients mustn't have SP2 installed on their PC.
once again
thanks

N00bish question, but... I was wondering, can you back up a dvd using the guides contained in doom9 when you have ffdshow installed? What I'm trying to ask is if it's necessary to install the gordian knot codec packs and delete the ffdshow. I hope what I said made some sense 'cause I'm the definition of a n00b when it comes to encoding/ripping etc.

ffdshow shouldn't affect the backup of a DVD, since it's primarily used for decoding (playback).
You can uncheck the installation of ffdshow during the Gordian Knot Codec Pack install, but it offers some very useful options.
