Dust Signs

Hi,
after a little talk with the teacher who supports me writing my term paper, we agreed upon the fact that my former topic "H.264 codec comparison" was too unspecific - so I have to find a new topic. He said that it would be ideal if I pick a little aspect from H.264 AVC (or a successive standard (maybe even under development)) which I can then implement (separately) in the summer semester on a Blackfin to perform a few performance tests.
I first thought about motion estimation algorithms which he said is too general and not too innovative. I fear that I'll be soon out of ideas. Has any of you got a suggestion for an interesting topic?
Thanks in advance
