View Full Version : Is NERO copy a bit-by-bit copy

Hi,

When I copy a DVD using a DVD duplicator, 1-to-7 DVD Duplicator (http://www.newcyberian.com/1-to-7-dvd-duplicator.html), for example, I can use the compare and verify feature of the duplicator to make sure the copied DVD is an exact copy of the master. If I use NERO to create a NERO image and send it over to other people, can I assume when the NERO image is burned to an actual DVD, the DVD will also be bit-by-bit the same as the master?

The uncertainty comes from the fact that I did few experiments and use the duplicator tower to verify my the discs. I am getting inconsistent results. Sometime the tower will say the NERO copied DVD is ok and sometime not. Does anyone know whether NERO will restructure the DVD structure, even though there is no obvious difference on the screen?

Thanks for the info.

Hi!

Forgive my curiosity but, why would you need a $600 duplicator (for which you've provided a link), capable of burning 7 copies at once, in order to make a backup copy of your DVD for your personal use?

just be reading his thread, my assumption is that VideoDude owns a dvd rental store

if not, apologizes

some newer dvds, have a anti-copy protection on them (besides css), that could be the problem, or maybe dual layer, in the end, all that matters is that they play

Nero is well known to modify the VTS pointers and the layout of the files. In addition, it modifies also often the layer break position.
However, when burning an single-layer ISO, you should have no problem.

If you are going to be a regular poster to the forums (I see you registered sometime ago), can you please consider asking a mod to change your user name to avoid confusion. Thanks.

VideoDude and Video Dude can be easily mistaken.

Wow, at first I thought that was you Video Dude. You are correct... that name similarity is going to cause some confusion IMO.
It already caused confusion for me (that not hard to do sometimes:)). I knew the post count was not right for you but I chalked it up to a glitch in forum.
