Help>simple way to create playable DVD movie disc

Hi all expertise:p Doom9's famous in all dvd editing bcos of the expertise ;)

I m new to video editing, but i like to do something that i desidered -->like join all the great part from many movies into 1 playable movie disc.

Example: currently, i already have 2 vob files which are splitter from original dvd disc:

VTS_01_1.VOB --> 800MB (probably each file is 1GB, will this files working??)
VTS_01_2.VOB --> 900MB

Both file contenting dts and dolby sound. But that concern doesn't matter, bcos now i just want to know the way to create playable dvd disc first, so the sound issue put a side 1st.

So, what are the simple steps i need to go? what are the program are i needed? How about to create a menu in the "most" simple method, example if can take menu from existing dvd movie, that is very great way. at least let me to try and know the basic ways to do it :rolleyes:

The easiest way without menu would be to use DVD shrink in re-author mode, search for guides on joining movies using DVD shrink.

Now coming to the menus, thats where some learning curve would be required on DVD authoring tools, DVD remake pro, DVD lab pro, and its not free and Yes, each VOB in DVD is actually 1048 MB, so the size is supported.

I tried with dvd shrink 3.2, but i cant do anything. i cant add any of the .vob file. :scared: totally stuck there.

You have to click the "Re-author" button. Then, in the DVD Browser tab, load the titlesets, and drag-drop the titles you want in the left pane. (Guide) (http://www.dvdshrink.info/reauthor_basic.php) You can then use the "Set start/end frames" button to cut a part of the title if you wish. (Guide) (http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/set_start_end_frames_page1.html)

Note that DVD Shrink requires valid IFOs to be able to load a title. If you have only the VOB files, you must first generate the IFO files with IfoEdit. (Guide) (http://www.ifoedit.com/createifo.html)

If you want to improve a bit the navigation on your compilation, you should try toe DVDShrink plugin for PgcEdit (available on my homepage.)

OMG........

i done to created the IFO file through IFOedit 0.96 by opened one of the .vob file. total files i get are :

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO

actually i m duno what i m suppose to do? i dun understand at all. Since I have 5 .vob files, mean i have to create 5 IFO files ????? Each of my .vob file will become as "each Title", am i correct ?

question 2, in order to let dvd player able to play this dvd disc automatically, so i have to created the IFO file, m i correct?

question 3, IFO generated IFO VTS_01_0.IFO, then if i later want to add another menu file as VTS_01_0.VOB, is there any problem ? i saw the numer are same!

question 4, yeah DVD Shrink really easy to cut vob file compare with last time i m using VOBSPLIT26 (try and error method through block by block). But why the vob file cut by DVD shrink when play at windvd, the sound default is Dolby NOT dts while file processed through VOBSPLIT26 the default sound is dts? I notify the DVD Shrink 3.2 are NOT supporting DTS sound, mean any vob file cut will doesn't content DTS sound? m i correct?

1) No, the VOB files are limited in size to 1GB. To hold a whole movie, more than 1 file is necessary. The menus are always in VIDEO_TS.VOB and/or VTS_XX_0.VOB, and the titles in VTS_XX_N.VOB (where N > 0).
IfoEdit is correct. Don't worry!

2) Yes. Try to play it with a software player...

3) There is only one IFO file per VTS, so it holds the information about the menu and the title domains. The VTS_01_0.VOB will hold the menu video, and VTS_01_0.IFO must be patched to reference the new menu. You cannot simply copy the menu VOB. Anyway, adding a menu is more complex. Begin with a simple task!

4) The first audio stream in the list of streams is used by default, unless your player is configured to select automatically a specific language or coding mode. You can force a specific audio and/or subtitle stream as default in Shrink: right-click on the Title and select Set Default Streams.

You can also strip the streams you don't want with DVD Shrink, Just unselect them in the Compression tab. You will regain some disc space. But remember that a title with only a DTS stream is illegal, and will not play in a player w/o a DTS decoder.

Anyway, DVDShrink simply copies the stream it finds in the DVD. If you don't uncheck it, the DTS stream will be available. But you might have to use the remote to select it.

Nope, i open the IFO file with windvd and i get not thing in response. Or u mean ask me burn into disc 1st and go play at software?

Yes, i see this setting, BUT refer my attachment, the DTS sound are doesn't Exist in the "drop box" to let me select. Only have Dolby 5.1 sound, how come.......

I heard about it before but havent try. Is it that will be very difficult to use it TMPGenc, bcos i m really new bie here. :scared:

2) In WinDVD you must use the "Open DVD from folder" option.

4) If you can't see the DTS stream in Shrink, then there is no DTS stream in the original DVD (or the stream has already been stripped out by another program, or the IFO files have been modified to remove the reference to the DTS audio.)

A Title with DTS only is not compatible with players without a DTS decoder. Therefore, it is illegal to have only a DTS stream.

Sorry, I was not clear. "uncheck it" is not a setting; it's the action of unselecting the stream by turning the checkmark off in the list of streams.
