I always wondered this but never tried it so I'm asking incase you guys gave this a go. Is it better to strip the extras from a dvd via vobblanker, or use the advanced mode in DVD-RB that lets me keep Menu + Movie.
I've been just stripping the extras/audio via vobblanker running the video normally through DVD-rb then editing the menu via menuedit.
thanks for the info.

I use to do vobblanker all the time. But now I have begun to use the BETA Viewer in DVD-RB. It can't blank all things, like the FBI stuff but that I can leave to vobblanker or PGCEdit.

Well. I guess when asked most will say the use DVD RB's blanking feature. And obvoiusly, that's the one jdobbs supports. If you preprocess in other apps, it becomes increasingly difficult for jdobbs to help you should something go wrong.
I use a combo that really doesn't allow for support, which I've come to accept.
1. Strip audio and/or subs in IfoEdit
2. Blank stuff in VobBlanker
3. Etc.
There are, in fact, times when material preprocessed in VobBlanker causes trouble for DVD RB. Nothing big, but just minor problems.
Anyway, if you strip ALL extras, I'd probably stick to DVD RB.

DVD-RB beta viewer/editor can't blank things that are included in the VIDEO_TS.VOB. However, this seems to be on the agenda of jdobbs.....

Hmm stereo may i ask what is wrong with Vobblankers strip method that makes IFOEdit superior in that aspect? I've never used IFOEdit and im curious. Thank you

Well, it's really just a minor detail: IfoEdit strips all references to the stripped audio and subtitles (meaning you won't be able to select blank tracks on your remote), whereas VobBlanker and DVD RB leave these references intact.
I just don't like to look a those references, and so I use IfoEdit. But mind you, jdobbs has kept them in DVD RB for a reason. It CAN screw things up, if you're not careful. In my case it usually works flawlessly, because 99 percent of the time I restrict myself to keeping only one audio track.
There's a risc that if you keep two tracks when stripping with IfoEdit, you'll have to remap the audio tracks. I have done this succesfully in PgcEdit, but it's a hassle, and I just wouldn't bother. Meaning: If you wanna strip some of the audio tracks and keep several others, I'd recommend using DVD RB. It'll keep the references, but it's pretty much guaranteed that it'll work.

ye i wished vobblanker stripped the audio and didnt keep the refrences. Im sure remapping can be done via DVD-rb last i checked.

You can always use PGCedit to remove those references, infact it will prompt you immediately if you open the processed DVD in it.
I use the VOBblanker method, its most reliable and I remember seeing here that some of the earlier pro version werent including the blanked space into the bitrate calculation, although that stands corrected now.
