Advanced profile with Canopus ProCoder 2.0

I use Canopus ProCoder 2.0 to make WMV9-streams (800+1500kbit in one file).

I would like to optimize my encodes for the best quality possible and have been reading as much as I can in the forum.

From what Ive understood WMV9 and VC-1 is the same thing, correct me if Im wrong.

I havn't yet fully understood everything why I'd like for someone to answer the following questions:

1) Is the encoding of WMV done multithreaded? In other words, would my encode times be better with a dual core cpu?

2) How do I use advanced profile in procoder and why does one want to use advanced profile at all?

3) What profile is default?

VC-1 is a standard (like h.264 is) and WMV9 is the Microsoft implementation of the standard (like x264 is an implementation of h.264).
So,
1) depends on the implementation in procoder. if it's the MS implementation then probably yes.
2) Advanced profile introduces some new stuff regarding interlaced encoding and some differences in buffers. For what concerns the "how to" i dont readlly know. Check the procoder documentation.
3) Main Profile should be the default, but it all depends on how profiles were implemented in procoder (check the docs).

Would changing to advanced profile give me the benefits by default or would there be a lot of settings for me to adjust?

Multithreaded encoding is definitely supported in v11 codecs. It will use up to 4 CPU cores to distribute encoding threads.
