Ok Normally when i need to convert things i usually use virtualdubmod to strip the audio convert it to mp3 and make itsuitable to combine with an avi. Up untill now i have been able to do this without anyproblems with all files mkv,ogg,everything else. For some reason i cant figure out this audio stream it says [tag 0x0000,unknown wave format,ID[A_AAC/MPEG4/LC/SBR] and when i used mediainfo it said AAC LC-SBR as the audio stream. Is there anyway i can convert this AAC LC-Sbr stream into something that i can put into an avi using virtualdubmod? When i demux it(its a .mkv) i save it and go to it and i cannot convert at all using dbpoweramp or anything. Windows doesnt even recognize the file type . any help please D:!?
Also i heard FAAD2 is supposed to do this but i have no idea how to use the source code thing >_<
thanks <3

VirtualDub is for avi files (video+audio), aac is only audio and not supported in avi container.
Use Foobar2000 to convert aac to other format.

When you demux it, do you end up with a raw file (no header)? That might be why nothing knows what to do with it. You should try to demux it to mp4 or aac (w/ adts header).
I'm not sure what options mkvextract gives you, but I think mp4box can take raw data (don't quote me on that).
The easy way to convert it is to leave it in the mkv. Then use winamp (mkv on in_dshow and a diskwriter) or dBpowerAMP (mkv on its directshow decoder) to encode directly or dump it to a new wav file.

@VaShy23
Hi!
What software and procedures did you use to create the file?

Use Foobar2000 to convert aac to other format.
foobar 0.9.x can't handle raw aac files propertly.
@VaShy23
So you need to mux that aac file to mp4 container, and than you can convert it to mp3 via foobar or other software.
Aslo will be good to instal some AAC decoder on you system like ffdshow or CoreAAC. Aslo maybe you can use AviMuxGUI to demux that AAC from AVI container, if source is AVI or MKV

ok well i have All the codecs for aac and direct show filters that are needed its just nothing recognizes it. I was told somewhere else that i should use FAAD and that faad can convert it to wave and once im at wave im fine. DBpowerAmp doesnt work for this file and when i rip it using mkvextract gui it saves it as an Mkv which none of the programs i have let me touch mkv.....
also how would i get it to and mp4 container if its only the audio?
and one more thing ^_^
i have faad2 now but i cant figure out how to compile the source code.... does anyone know how?
THANKS EVERYONE !!!

also how would i get it to and mp4 container if its only the audio?MP4 is universal container for both audio and video, and MP4 can be only video, or only audio, and can be mix of both, aslo can have multiple streams of audio, video, subtitles, chapters, menus etc.
For this you need Yamb/mp4box to mux that aac into mp4 container, a then you can decode/reencode it via foobar/Nero Wave Editor, and maybe with DBpowerAmp
and one more thing ^_^
i have faad2 now but i cant figure out how to compile the source code.... does anyone know how?Here is compiled version, http://www.rarewares.org/files/aac/faad.zip, with faad you should can decode that audio to wav

Both those programs the compiled faad2 and mp4box for some reason when i click the .exe the command prompt comes up and flashes then disapears! would that be my virus protection or something? or is something wrong somewhere else xd?
Sry for taking up so much time on such newbie questions lol BUT im learning!
Edit* Just managed to figure out to click run cmd and drag faad.exe in there to get the program to run! now im at the part where im lost xD!

You are on the right track for using the command prompt.
Quick lesson:
"cd.." goes back a directory
"cd <foldername>" will let you use what is in <foldername>
Once you get to where you have your commandline applications, you just type the name of the program and hit enter.. then just follow the instructions.
Back to the quest at hand...
Most programs won't read mkv on their own by default. You often have to tell them to read them (this goes for dbpoweramp and winamp). Another solution for you may be to use graphedit to dump the audio to pcm/wav.
Good luck :)

thanks alot ^_^ i got it working the way it should. I even had to convert the video to get the framerate alligned with the audio. theres a problem now though. When i try to burn using nero the video moves at an accelerated pace and when it finishes the dvds Video moves 20x faster than the audio...... When i play it on the computer its fine but when it burns it goes to fast T_T. Is there anyway to fix this or would it be smarter to use a better container than avi like mp4? Ive heard alot of good things about it and was wondering how to do it ^_^( convert to mp4 that is >_>
