View Full Version : Modern DVD Authoring

I was wondering if there is a solution that could replace Scenarist, DVDMaestro and all other dvd authoring programs that are (still) used by the more experienced encoders (I say this because I would like to convert DVD9 to DVD5)

So my question is: Is there a intuitive program that makes it easy for someone who wants to be able to:

- edit an existing DVD's menues, buttons and subtitles (without having to use third party software/freeware that takes the dvd apart for you)
- make dvds from scratch that work on most dvd players
- use buttons created in Photoshop that actually look good
- subtitles created either from the original streams or some txt based input

So a new program recently released (last year or so). Anyone?

Thnx,
Neme.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

If you have these tools are your disposal why would you want to replace them? Or, are you looking for a tool which does all this thats easy to use?

Hi!

You might want to examine "DVD Planner". You can obtain the freeware or the enhanced "for pay" version at:

if this is your main aim, is there any reason you do not wish to use the 'big 3' suite of tools? afaik they are the only tools avaliable which can compress a DVD9 to DVD5 and (if used in conjunction with scenarist) allows you full control to edit any part of the dvd you choose by importing the scripts that numenu/scenaid create....

to be honest, freeware would be your best bet to achieve this. i have not yet heard of an authoring program that allows input of menu vobs ....

as already mentioned by setarip_old, you should seriously consider looking at dvdplanner. it is a fantastic new program that the author (zeul) is working very on hard on making it a solid replacement for scenarist.
another option would be to look at dvd lab pro, or if you dont mind a less 'newbie' friendly gui, then muxman is a very powerful program as well.

but i don't think dvdplanner is so easy... (powerfull for sure)The "Wizard" makes DVDPlanner a whole lot easier to use!

When it comes to backing-up my own DVD's, my personal preference is to generate "movie only" back-up's containing 1No (English) AC3 audio track and the original chapter points. I'm not interested in keeping the subtitles, the directors movie banter, makings of, etc, etc... Which I suspect is what many users want too!

Over the past few days I've used DVDPlanner BASIC to re-mux several of my old "full DVD" ISO back-ups and they work really well indeed ;)

Cheers
