Problems installing x264 version 574 and up

Hello,

I have difficulties in installing x264 from version 573 upwards. When starting the downloaded x264.exe file a short glance of a dos window appears and nothing more happens.

Does anybody know why? Where can I get the installer?

x264.exe is the cli (dos) application in itself. You need to run it from the command prompt or from a batch file.

The installer is also available on x264.nl further down the page.

By the way, if you are looking forward to use x264 with virtualdub or avidemux or other vfw software, you are out of look, the latest revisions of x264 (>= 581) don't contain the VFW part of the codec anymore.

Very true indeed ! I though so myself, and someone else in the "no more vfw builds" thread sort of mentionned that fact too.
