downloaded the wavewizard gui and have poked around
it a bit but can't seem to figure out how to take the six
wav's i added and fold them into one six channel wave.
help please? or must i use the command line? whatever i
do it just duplicates the six files.

also, how is the order specified? or is that done through
the filenames?

thanks,
BabaG

Itīs simple, actually.
Load the 6 mono WAVs in WAV multichannel order (L-R-C-LFE-Ls-Rs). L first, R second, C third, etc.
Then go to Edit --> Preferences --> select Ignore size in Header: Always (so if the file is bigger than 4Gb, it wonīt complaint), Stream Manipulation: Merge Files (this is where u tell Ww what to do with the list of files), and Output Format: WAV PCM (for compatibility).
And Convert.

just now using wavewizard to merge six 16/48 mono wav's
into one six channel wav for aften use. when i follow above
instructions i get an error that there is an incompatibility and
that only ieee float is supported. was able to make it convert
by selecting in edit---->prefs the convert option to 32bit float.
that made it convert but results in a huge file. is this right or
am i still missing something?

thanks,
BabaG

Go to Menu -> Edit -> Conversion Batcher -> Uncheck 'Send jobs to batcher' and 'Start batcher when finished'.
Maybe the conversion to Ac3 with ac3enc is activated (this is a typical error message). To only merge files this error can't be send.

Uncheck 'Convert sample type', you don't need modify this for Aften conversion. Just use the options specified by Skelsgard.

The resultant file is just 6 x MonoSize, and x 2 if is 32 bits instead 16.

thanks again tebasuna51. seems much faster now. when i
took the resultant 32bit wav to aften for conversion to ac3
it instantly flashed a job completed message up and created
an empty (0b) ac3 file. hopefully this will be what works for
me.

thanks again,
