hi.
i know and have 5.1 AC3 and DTS in cds/dvds but not sure if i can burn 5.1 waves (6-channels as one interleaved) in medias to play in standalones/decoders.
i don't mind about size or if needed to be 44.1k/48k or 16/24/or 32 bit,the target is lossless(i really want max quality) and i can't find good lecture about it.
anyone can clarify me please?
thanks.

If possible (although I don't know any hardware player supporting this) I wonder were you'll get the lossless streams from ;-)
Converting from (lossy) DTS (or unofficial AC3) CDs will not convert to lossless quality - only be of the same quality as the original DTS/AC3 source.
And I also doubt you can distinguish between high quality DTS and PCM Wav.

The DVD standards specify LPCM multichannel as a supported format, 48 or 96kHz at 16 or 24bits.
Cheers.

If possible (although I don't know any hardware player supporting this)i don't know too, this is the reason of the topic!
I wonder were you'll get the lossless streams from ;-) i can call cdas as lossless.(i wrote i can call)
Converting from (lossy) DTS (or unofficial AC3) CDs will not convert to lossless quality - only be of the same quality as the original DTS/AC3 source. where you read that is lossless source, please show meas i wrote is from cdas and i call lossless as one "state of mine" if you don't have the source to compare...right?if you have doubt i can host the source or the "lossless" as you call and you tell me who is who?
And I also doubt you can distinguish between high quality DTS and PCM Wav.lol...maybe...after 35 years as eletronic/eletric technician and 46 years as musician...maybe i can distinguish something, what you think?
now i copy and paste the emoticon from your post:
can you answer me?(the topic not psycological deductiuons)
if don't ..thanks and good bye!
as here is one audio forum and you judge and answered lots--->less the question of the topic that you don't know too(just like me) then i need to ask again: hi.

really? but 8.1 is multichannel and can be burned too?
5.1 can be burned and will work? <---this is the question(red lights blinking)
and don't matter how much channels are.

As DVD standard, the supported LPCM are from 2 to 6 channels.

Yes, if your player is fully compliant with the specs.
For example, 96/24 is also in the standards but most players wonīt read it.
If u have a 48kHz 16bits 6ch PCM audio, your SAP should be able to play it.
8.1 is multichannel but is not within the standard specs.
7.1 is in the standards specs for HD for Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, LPCM, and Dolby HD and DTS HD.

Does the 5.1 (L)PCM able to be writen to the Audio CD format also and can be passthrued to the receiver/decoder when playing on CD/DVD players, and can be decoded without any stream info(container)?
[edit]clarification
Like dtswav or ddwav on a audio cd.
I guess the DVD cannot have the raw AUDIO-only stream

Rockaria,
i'm not sure in what i'm writing here in this post, maybe Skelsgard can correct me if needed:
Does the 5.1 (L)PCM can be writen to the Audio CD format also and can be passthrued to the receiver/decoder when playing on CD/DVD players, and can be decoded without any stream info(container)? i think that is possible if the wave is 44100-16bit for cds only. i'm still searching, reading and waiting more clarifications.if this "feature" works,we don't need the dts or ac3 encoder turning the job faster when size is not a problem if burned as cda(red book tricked)
working, better is burn cheap medias(one media per album) than buy surcode DTS.for ac3 Aften is cool but "pure waves" are better.
[edit]clarification
Like dtswav or ddwav on a audio cd.
I guess the DVD cannot have the AUDIO-only streamfor dvds seems impossible(not capable)
for my taste this deserve a deep lecture...you can forget wikipedia,i'm searching other forum but still this moment nothing new came.Skelsgard"s answers are the best until now.

Now you are proving your english is not bad at all! clearly stated.
Well, I am talking about the logic & communication 'cause math, coputer and audio are very similar in the logic.
for my taste this deserve a deep lecture...you can forget wikipedia,i'm searching other forum but still this moment nothing new came.Skelsgard"s answers are the best until now. Thanks for evaluating me. But do you really enjoy evaluating & affecting people by your needs? not my taste.
Last night I called Bill and gave my regards to his wife and grand-kids. But it's OK nobody believes me an MTS expert and the first who got the AM radio in the whole town.
Honestly, I am waiting for anybody's clarification although I want Skelsgard. But any source is OK as far as it concurs my reasoning.
'Cause I clearly understand this is not a closed religious forum...

you can forget wikipediaThanks for evaluating me.i mean, you can forget wikipedia about the theme here(burning 5.1waves in cds/dvds),i read all there and don't have anything about this.
what you understood? ! ? if i'm talking about the topic!!nothing have to do with you.
lol,lots of "psycrack-logs" today here. :p
a long days you are doing hard to find something in where i write(or wrote) to blame me then...what you really want Rockaria?
i'm alwaystalking about the topic...always. i never did personal attack,i'm only defending myself before phrases like you wrote and like magicclue wrote with his "measures of distinguish between what he can imagine".
this is really strange: he don't answer anything, have the same doubt that i have and in the end is a little sarcastic...is one "salutar" way to post in good english but not for me.
re-read his post,now re-read your post.
i can post lots of links where you are trying to do the same
what's happen to you? :sly:
ok,i have one wonderfull idea before that my poor english start your angry again...i will pm to one moderator to remove me from the forum and soon or later you will find another one to discharge your "fixations".
good bye!

really,i apriciate your complete details(why your not an audio mod? ! ? )
Cause I donīt know jack compared to most guys in here, specially the mods (Iīm not even a 1 year-old member of this forum), is just that iīve been screwing around with multichannel audio for so long that eventually u get the hang of some things.
Does the 5.1 (L)PCM able to be writen to the Audio CD format also and can be passthrued to the receiver/decoder when playing on CD/DVD players, and can be decoded without any stream info(container)?
and
i think that is possible if the wave is 44100-16bit for cds only.
The Red Book, to wich every CDDA must comply, states as accepted only 44.1kHz 16bits 2-ch or 4-ch.
Even if thereīs a DVD player that would read a 6-ch "hacked" CDDA, Iīve never come across a CD burner app that will accept this 6-ch WAV to begin with. Iīve never seen either a 4-ch CDDA, though it would be cool to play one.
BTW, pretty much everything Iīve posted can be found on Wikipedia, if memory serves me right.
P.D. please, guys, letīs not turn this thread into a flamewar, or its purpose will be lost.
CYA.

@raquete, you can do whatever you want to protect yourself against my protections.
It's a place for anonymous users anyway, nobody sees your face, it won't affect your real life. maybe we can just read the forum.
Oh well, did I even mention the wikipedia or 'search' in this thread? What did you want to imply as you often do?
And what's wrong with it even if I prefer wikipedia, for myself & people to have more widely accepted basis?
Anybody believe & have better definitions and want to save people from lots these wastes, I always suggest to update the wikipedia.
Your english can't be the last resort for excuses any more, although you still want to rely on it.
And as I said before, 'You are welcome' whatever you do, a reasonable manner will be appreciated anyway.
PS. @Skelsgard, a good point and thanks for the updates.
PS. Who said his english is bad? It's excellent with lots of meta tags.
letters and words cant' show feelings and help my porr english...
Are you sure about that? Your english is not bad at all. Why get stressed by your innocent encoder so much when we have good enough decoders? And you are at least bilingual, no question clever==smart enough. Just some 'lol+high+low+abstract'ed excessive informations are overloading some poor classic decoders.
I hope we can now just focus on the main(objective) issues for Elektra.:) /Thanks.
Hope this is my last effort for him, understood or not.

It will accept it and burn it, but the result will be a 2-ch audio track (I believe it just discard any channel pass the 2nd one, against downmixing it).
