View Full Version : An interesting thing in Scenarist

The other day when I was authoring a PAL DVD, I accidently had the TV system( settings/default settings/assets tab) set to NTSC. When I played the resulting author on my TV I got the usual black and white scrolling picture( my TV doesn't support NTSC). Power DVD also reported that the DVD was NTSC(even though the video was 720 * 576@ 25fps). So I tried reauthoring an NTSC DVD (without re-encoding)that I have with the TV system to PAL, guess what it works. I'm trying to work out why this is and if there is a tool(maybe editting in PGCEdit or IfoEdit) that could achieve the same thing( I'd help out the "how do I convert a PAL DVD to NTSC").

the response of the player is a fluke so what you propose would only work with your player (and im sure a few other players)

ifoedit lets you change the ifo parameters. look at the dvd you made as pal but with ntsc assets.. and see which parts of the ifo show as pal and which show as ntsc(if any) and then change the same things on any future projects that are naturally ntsc but you would like to display as pal.

Hi!

I have only one question:

I would like to reauthor a dvd, and there is a pre command in the Title menu of the VideoManager (in the original dvd).
That one:
if ( gprm(1) == 0 ) then { Set gprm(1) =(mov) 1024 }

I go to Simulate window, at the bottom switch to PGC commands tab and add one pre command, with type 3.
I have to Compare gprm(1) to Immediate and Set gprm(1) to Immediate, isn't?

But scenarist don't let me select Immediate at both place.

Why? Thx

It's funny, one minute later of my post, I resolved the problem.

Thx anyway...

And the reason is the command is not type 3, but a conditional Set GPRM command

Yes as if it was PAL.
