When dumping an ac3 using -dumpaudio -aid ... is there a way to increase the volume of the outputed file? Ac3 dumps are almost always too quiet.

No. You cannot change the volume without reencoding/transcoding.

Ac3 dumps are almost always too quiet.
That's because AC3 is usually encoded with a high dynamic range (normal audio level is low so that there can be very loud sounds). You can use dynamic range compression in the player or amplifier if your speakers or the listening situation doesn't allow having both very low and very high volumes. If you are re-encoding to other formats, you can compress the dynamic range at the same time or keep the original audio levels, but then you lose the gain markers that guide DRC if you sometimes want to apply it while playing.
