Hi, everybody. I have a weird problem with my sound. Everytime I open a video file, the sound ALWAYS comes from all five speakers even I play videos that have 2 channel audio. And what's worse is that when I adjust the volume through the video player it only controlls the sound in the front channels and NOT the rear speakers! If anybody has a solution I would appriciate it! :)

sounds like sound card config problems. Check what has been set up in whatever utilities came with the card.

Hi!

Do you, by any chance, have the "AC3 Filter" installed on your system?

If so, check the settings...

It is normal for your syste to use all availabe speakers, even if the sources file is only 2 channel. It is all done with the software or hardware but it means multiple speakers will play the same channel. I would suggest updating drivers and making sure you have your audio connenctors in the right connector. If the color codes don't match up you will need to reasearch it.

Yeah, what kind of sound card do you have? I would really suggest installing AC3filter as it will very nicely upconvert anything into 5.1, assuming you set it up correctly. It will also do gain controls, dynamic range compression, and has a nice multichannel mixer. It's a GREAT filter.
