I have read through several posts on the following several subjects, hower I still seem to be missing something! Can comebody please help!

Background:

I have been an avid user of AutoGK for about 2 years (maybe more). I love it. I rip all of my DVDs with AutoGK and convert them to XviD .avi's for storage on my 'entertainment server' to stream to my htpc. I have done well over 100 of my DVDs with no issues.

Lately I have run into several issues with the new copy protections Arcoos and Ripguard. I have read up on these and I have attempted to use the PSL2 Plugin to 'fix-up' the files so that I won't have the audio and video sync issues. I get to the point where the files have been 'cleaned' but my rips with AutoGK still have issues. Most recenly I have been trying to back-up Glory Road.

The settings that I use in AutoGK are below:

English AC3 audio track,
75% quality,
Advanced settings: Resolution: Auto width, Codec: XviD, Subtitles: Display only forced, Audio: Original

I have attempted to 'clean' the files with the PSL2 plugin and to my knowledge it worked like it was supposed to. When I select the 'VTS_01_0.ifo' file to do the rip in AutoGK and do the rip I get audio sync issues.

Can somebody please clarify?? What am I doing wrong?

What file(s) should I be using at the source for my rip in AutoGK?

Thanks,
Andy

Hi!

The PSL2 plugin hasn't been updated since August - and likely won't be, since the easier to use and frequently updated freeware "RipIt4Me" package can "do it all" in ripping DVDs with even the most current copy protection schemes.

You can download it at:

www.ripit4me.org

Make sure to read the excellent "how to" tutorial while you're at the sight!

I can give that a shot, thank you.

Can I still use AutoGK with the result of RipIt4Me?

Can I still use AutoGK with the result of RipIt4Me?..
Hi,

Indeed, use movie mode and point AGK to the resulting Vts_0x_x.ifo file.
I have used it since the beginning and it seems really fitted for AGK. As stated in the tutorial it seeks and remove tiny cells at the origin of the audio/video desynch noted in AGK with recent protections.
Enjoy.

Thank you both very much for your advice and help. I did download and use RipIt4Me. I used it to sucessfully rip Chronicles of Narnia and Sky High, I was then able to sucessfully encode these two movies into XviD format with AutoGK!

Which is great. However, when I tried the exact same process on Glory Road it did not work. These are all Disney movies and supposed to be protected with Rip Guard. Does anybody know why it would work on the other two but not Glory Road?

Anybody?

when I tried the exact same process on Glory Road it did not work.I encountered no such difficulty with the Region 1 version of "Glory Road".

Please explain what you mean by "it did not work". Was there an error message generated anywhere in the "RipIt4Me"/DVD Decrypter/"FixVTS" process? If so, what was it?

Sorry about that. Yeah my description was very lame.

I encountered no errors in any of the programs between RipIt4Me and AutoGK.

The error that I am referring to is that when I look at the finished XviD product the video and sound don't match.

There were no error messages from any of the programs.

I used the exact same methods as I used for the other 2 Disney movies. I also tried it twice.

Did you remember to run the "FixVTS" step under "RipIt4Me" with "Glory Road"?

To simply synchronize your XviD:

Load the file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream list") to "Direct Stream Copy".

A) If the difference between audio and video is constant throughout the

video:

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For

VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then select

"Interleaving")
Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of

milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay audio track

by"
Save with a new filename

B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" - and

select "Change so video and audio durations match"
Save with a new filename

Let us know of your success ;>}

Yes I did run fixVTS on it, as I did on the other two movies.

I was under the impression that I could not use this method if I use AC3, which I do.

I was under the impression that I could not use this method if I use AC3I believe VirtualDubMOD should be able to handle it "straight out of the box".

If, instead, you choose to use the standard VirtualDub, you may have to install "fcchandler's" "AC3-ACM codec for Windows"...
