I did a search and found nothing about this.

I'm trying to encode a 1920x1080p mpeg2 to 1440x1080p x264 anamorphic but when I play with the avisynth script creator option CLEVER ANAMORPHIC ENCODING I can't get that resolution. The creator only offers me weird combinations: 1904x1072, 1440x816...

So I did a encoding (40 hours!) resizing to 1440x1080 without enabling the Clever Anamorphic Encoding Option and get a wonderful video at this resolution, but Media Player with CoreAVC plays the video in 4:3, not 16:9.

Is this video useless? Do I need to encode again with the Anamorphic option enabled?

1440X1080 is NOT anamorphic just calculate it by yourself

1440 / 16 * 9 = 810
1440 / 4 * 3 = 1080

so the Video is unanamorphic (4:3) and NOT anamorphic (16:9) use the Clever resizeing of meGUI, why do you think it is called "clever resizeing" ? :D

What? I don't understand. A 16:9 movie squeezed to 1440x1080 is as anamorphic as a 16:9 movie squeezed to a 720x576 dvd-video.

Obviously, it is anamorphic. Remux (with yamb for mp4, mmg for mkv) and set the anamorphic options manually, and make sure you have a smart enough splitter to return the anamorphic nature.

Thanks! Why Avisynth Creator don't let me do this? What am I doing wrong? Can it be fixed in future encodings with some values in global MeGUI_darx and global MeGUI_dary in the avisynth script?

So nobody is encoding 1440x1080? Never mind, I guess I'll stick to 1280x720, who cares about 0.5 extra million pixels anyway... :D
