Windows Update won't stop bugging until I reboot!

Sometimes, after I install Windows Updates, they show a dialog saying the system has to be rebooted with 2 buttons: Reboot now, or Reboot Later. If I press Reboot Later, the dialog closes, but the Windows Update icon remains in the taskbar and every 5 minutes it appears again asking the same thing. I tried killing it with Task Manager, but it keeps reappearing. Is there a way to get rid of it without having to reboot?

that's why I killed Security Center and Windows Update. best make them manually when you are ready to reboot.

Just my opinion ok? Login as administrator, go to "system services" and DISABLE the updates service. Maybe someone thinks it's useful but I don't..

Typed into a run box, as admin/power user:
net stop wuauserv
Poof, annoying box and icon gone.
(It's worse when you're not admin. You can't dismiss the box at all, reboot later is greyed out.)

Even if I don't need 3/4 of security patches, I still apply them for peace of mind. (So far Firefox has had a worse record of things breaking over "security" patches than windows has.)
