Tried searching the forum, but do I recall seeing a mention of eventually having some sort of system to allow standard video files that use AVI, WMV, TS files to also be passed through DVD-RB Pro to be converted to DVD with the very useful side effect of being able to use AviSynth to filter if needed

Also, any updates on the possible inclusion of using external software to normalize the terrible audio of some DVDs so you can actually hear them

Steptoe,

I believe you are referring to JDobb's reply to a post on 9/12/06 "Possible use of windows media encoder with Rebuilder" where JDobbs said:

I am working something similar. In the next minor version update (v1.11) I plan to have support for backup of movies to MPEG-4, XviD, or H.264 within Rebuilder.

I also have a project started (just in its beginnings) that will perform a PREPARE using AVI files etc. (anything that can be read by AVISYNTH). It essentially does what you are asking. It'll probably be ready for some initial alpha testing in another month or so.

The audio normalization project is another one... I looked at it briefly, but haven't followed through. Too many irons in the fire, I guess.

Good work JDobbs, a small suggestion is to keep the Video and audio sources as separate, so that the end users have a choice, although it might already be included by you ;)

Thats great news to here. I would also hope that .mpg files would be supported because I have a hauppauge pvr-250 and it records .mpg files.

Hmm... they'd probably have to be scanned first in order to create a D2V for use with DGDECODE.

Will this include support for subtitles (srt, ssa, sub, etc)? Also, I would think the PAL -> NTSC portion would be very beneficial for this project. You'd also need to allow for multiple file inputs for split files. Anyway, I'm sure you've thought about a lot of these things, but I just wanted to make sure they were mentioned.

I look forward to what you do in this area as all the other AVI -> DVD applications have seemed a bit convoluted and I never seem to get the results I'm looking for.
