UniversalHD aired on Sunday FireFly the first two episodes unfortunately the audio is encoded in 5.1 384kbps but only the front left/right actually have data. The DVD audio stream was DD 2.0 surround sound, so I'm surprised that UniversalHD encoded the 2 channels in 5.1 though.
To correct this is there an easy way to do this without having to re-encode the audio? I know I could demux the audio into the Stereo signal and then re-encode it with softencode to DD Suround sound. If at all I would like to avoid that.
I am aware of the fact to just run it through the amplifier and then force it to decode this in PL II, but I am not sure if my Yamaha amplifier allows me to do this.
Any other suggestions that would preserve the audio quality would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
