Hi, many times I've successfully used DVDRemake Pro / Muxman to change menu backgrounds as detailed in this guide (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_customize_menu_background.php). Lately, however, I've had trouble with the replaced menu not functioning right (or even showing up at all). I either get a black menu or the background shows up with only about half of the image present (it gets cut off about half-way down the screen). Sometimes the main menu seems to look and function right but when I try to get back to it from a root menu my software or hardware dvd player freezes. I read somewhere that this can be due to the original bmp image used by Muxman being off, but I don't think that's the problem. My bmp images are all 720 x 480 and 24-bit, which I think is what's necessary. When I open the Muxman folder to grab the new background and then choose "replace with still" everything looks fine, but the exported dvd has the problems I mentioned. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What is the video format of your original menu? Are you sure it's not half-D1, 704 x 480, or PAL?
Try to export a BMP from the original menu and see it the resolution is really 720 x 480. In any case, use the same resolution for your BMP.

Does your problem look like this ONE (http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4998.html)? Latest version of ReMake should fix it already.

OK, got 3.53 and things seem to work, but now a have another, smaller problem. I just merged two dvds and then replaced the main menu. At the same time I moved the buttons to match the new "Disc 1" and "Disc 2" areas on my new background. Though the buttons both work, it seems that in moving them in Remake Pro somehow the highlighting got killed. I get the background image fine but neither button is highlighted. I assumed that the Disc 1 button was highlighted (it was) and it worked, but I'd really like to restore the highlights. It seems to me that the last time I merged two discs and stuck with the default brown menu that Remake provides that the highlights worked fine. Thanks in advance.

I think you move the button rectangle position, but the button highlight is in the subpicture layer and is still in its original position. So you won't see the button being highlighted. You have to modify the subpicture BMP as well by extracting it with Subrip. There are many threads discussing how to do this. Try a search on cdr-zone. Maybe you can use this: http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/post-8444.html#8444. Or perhaps goonix's guide in the sticky would help?
