I recently bought a Chaplin DVD from Amazon and intend to make an Xvid encode out of it and would like for it to be playable on standalones here in Uruguay. Thing is, all but a few DivX capable models are generic, so I'd like to stick with something like AutoGK's "ESS-based standalones" mode to ensure maximum compatibility. Upon checking MeGUI's Xvid presets, I noticed that the profiles available there are only comp_check-based. Is there a possibility to include AutoGK's standalone compatibility profiles?

"standalone compatibility" usually just means something like: "a normalish resolution, no qpel, GMC and 1 bframe or less". Whip up a few test videos and see what works and what doesn't.

If you know which settings exactly work for your standalone, you can create a custom profile (my-profile.xml or something) and put it in the same directory as the other profiles. MeGUI will pick it up. You can just copy/paste an existing profile and edit it.

The purpose of this encode is to use it instead of the DVD both in my house and when I bring it to other people's homes. Since there are lots of generic brands testing different video clips becomes impossible. I just want one encode that will be guaranteed to play on every standalone that can play DivX.
