x264 hangs during encoding.
The behavior does not depend on eigther source file or command-line options.
Latest build (567) hangs too.
How to resolve that?

Here, x264 does not hang. Give more info on how to reproduce what you are doing.

System: p4p800e-deluxe, p4/3.2G/prescott (HT is ON), 2Gb, no overclocking
Command-line: x264 --pass 1 --bframes 3 --b-pyramid --direct auto --filter 1:1 --progress --no-psnr --subme 1 --analyse none --me dia --ref 1 --threads 2 --thread-input --stats 1.stats --output NUL 1.avs
1.avs contains no criminal, just opens MPEG2Source (...)
This avs is played by Light Alloy player without any trouble.
x264 hangs always on 3 different source files, every time on new position, trap address always differs too.
Trap address in inside x264.exe, not in any DLLs
What else info should I give?

The results of a system stability test or two (such as prime95, memtest86/goldmemory, and passmark burn-in-test) would be useful.

have you tried removing the --thread-input and the --threads 2 switches ? just out of curiosity :)
I've also got a smiliar problem with mencoder that never starts encoding (using x264 too) when the cmd-line is too long, on windows SP1 only. On SP2 the same cmdline works.
Is your XP SP1 or SP2 ?

Sure I tried to... First what I thought was the incorrect semaphoring which can cause traps on hyperthreaded processors - no way :)

Did I say I have xp? :)
Just kidding. Of course, sp2.
