Hi, I recently bought a Kaco DV-X721 player.

I'm not really impressed by the quality of the divx movies when they're playing. I've read a few times that all divx players are the exact same quality because they use the same decoder, can anyone confirm this?

divx is supposed to be "almost DVD quality" ... what I'm seeing is VHS quality.

Also, the DVD player I have cannot play the video of divx 6 movies...I'm only getting sound. Is this common for most players? Or if I bought (for example) a sony divx player, would it play divx6?

If so, I'll probably exchange players.

Note: all the files I've played are divx .AVI files

thanks for any advice

Hi and welcome to the forum,

You have posted in the Xvid section. Does the word "flaming" rings something?

Better suited in the hardware/players section

Maybe to move in the divx section this time

Or back to player section if any mod would like to choose ;)

@ Dex99, I don't use divx but Xvid; concerning standalone players (SAP), you may find some informations in this threads:

Or you may want to give more informations on your player and/or on the files playings or not playing (beside being divx 6 files)

Cheers
