The original post didn't really get to the bottom of the problem so I've edited it. Read my second post.

This is what I get:

This is what I want (previous frame from the above):

Here's a sample from the vob:

I appreciate all the help I can get with this, I've been fighting with this for several months now.

Are those effects of interlacing? It looks like there's a checkerboard pattern. It's almost like noise.

That's dot crawl. It seems to be just hard 3:2 telecining. Apply IVTC. You can also try to mitigate the dot crawl. Use search.

Heh, you don't even want to know how many times I've used search. Maybe I should have explained it a little better in the initial post but I know it's dot crawl and that it's hard 3:2 telecining and those I can handle. What I don't know what to do with, is that stairstepping on the lines (is it called that?). I've tried with several different settings for tfm/tdecimate to try to avoid it from creating that kind of frames (with no luck) and I've also noticed that the same effect can be found on several already progressive frames. I've already tried to remove it with msmooth, mipsmooth, sangnom, aaa, fastlinedarken, awarpsharp, msharpen, limitedsharpen and a couple more in all kind of combinations without getting a satisfying result.

Oh, and that telecining pattern is far from normal, hell I can't even see a pattern in it. So if you have some tips for it as well, it would be appreciated as I still get lots dublicate frames.

(Edited the first post. Shouldn't have written it in the middle of the night. :p)

It's all dot crawl. The stairstepping is just an artifact of the checkerboard pattern. Did you hit it with tcomb() yet?

As for dups, you mean an irregular duplicate pattern? As opposed to the normal every-frame-duplicated 12 fps of animation? I haven't seen the vob yet, but animation can sometimes be messier to deal with than movies.

Well, as I'm still a little new at this I'm not really sure what's normal but to me it seems like an irregular dublicate pattern. And no, I haven't really played around with tcomb() yet, only used dedot() for the dot crawling.

EDIT: Tested tcomb() and it's slightly better at removing the dot crawling than dedot() but that stairstepping on the line below Sonic's eye (seen in the screenshot) is still there.
