Hi,
I have Knoppix 5.0.1 and want to connect to internet using USB connection to my router. I issued commands like "lsusb"," dmesg | tail". It recognises my Router via USB connection.

But I'm having hard time connecting to internet using USB! Can u explain the exact procedure to connect??

Thanx!:thanks:

Hmm. What kind of troubles do you have. I'm connected via powerline and LAN. My router don't has a USB-connection. Also the max length is 5 meters. Why not LAN? Did you tried a linuxboard like http://www.knoppix.net/forum/

Hi amnon, thanx for atleast replying! Neways I do have LAN and thats how I normally connect it to. But my router has 2 slots for connection : ethernet slot and USB slot. I connect my DEsktop to ethernet slot and laptop to USB slot normally though I can connect in opposite configuration too i.e desktop to usb etc!

When I work on Xp, both PCs form a LAN. But when I connect the USb to any of the 2 computers on Linux I face problem and I'm not able to setup net connection.

Thanx for the link! Neways thats what I'm doing right now, migrating from one forum to another in search of some answer.

why not grab a cheap switch from a store and connect that way?

That would be the best thing to do. You could get a 5-port switch for something like 10 euros. Stop troubling yourself with usb...

Yea, I know various ways like that. But asking about USB just for the sake of knowledge!
