Hi all,

ive done a search and coundlt find anything so excuse the post, and i hope you can help!

In my flat ive got a 320GB NAS server (it shares via SMB, FTP and also USB2) under my couch (so if someone steals my PC then ive still got a full backup of all data!)

What i want to be able to do is have a hardware player attached to my TV (with video and ideally optical audio out) so that it can stream the movies i have downloaded to the NAS box.

Ive seen there are lots of media 'servers' out there, but none of them seem to be able to access SMB drives, so im guessing the only way to do this is via USB2

Can anyone recomend any devices - idealy under £100 would be great

thanks

Well one option is to softmod an Xbox with Xbox Media centre. This will work with smb share very well.
Its what i use and I love it however its not to everyone's taste, esp as the xbox is big, ugly and a little noisy.

The Zensonic Z500 can connect to NAS servers. Here's a link: -

Cool, thanks for the reply.

It looks great, however ive already got the tevion hdmi dvd player so i was hoping just for a simple media player which if it doesnt use SMB could use USB2

The player also is able to connect to your home PC network via ethernet and/or to directly connected NAS units.
