I Replaced The Original Cd Burner (nec) That Came With My Computer With A New Sony Dvd-rw 820a Dl. I Also Have In The Second Bay A Sony Dvd-rw 510-a. The 820 Will Not Work Unless I Set The Dma To Pio Mode Only. Of Course This Sucks For Obvious Reasons. The 820 Is Set To Master, The 510 Is Set To Slave. Any Suggestions To Fix This Problem. Maybe Switch The Two Master And Slave? Any Suggestions Would Help. THE ERROR MESSAGE IS AN I/O ERROR.

The 820 Will Not Work Unless I Set The Dma To Pio Mode OnlyThis makes no sense. You might want to investigate the DMA settings in the BIOS...

Could be incorrect drivers for your motherboard chipset.
Could be a failing IDE channel.
Could be a bad drive
Could be a bad cable.
Could be a master/slave mismatch (some drives ONLY like one or another, and some must have cable select)...
Lots of possibilities!

You can try to uninstall the IDE controller that your dvd drive is connected to in the device manager. Restart Windows. Windows will automatically detect it and reinstall the driver. In most cases this will enable the DMA.
