Hi again DVD2SVCD!!

I have tried with and without permanent subtitles and the result
is allways the same...= Avisynth...
I have also tested several RAM-modules from different Vendors =>
same result = Avisynth...

I'm not sure that problem is related to subtitles...
We have to think something else...
What I have found out is, that after some time of encoding, CCE
speed up encoding speed and that allways means that we have again the same problem...

Me and DVD2SVCD ran some more tests, but we haven't found a working solution yet. Here's some interesting notes though:

- After replacing a RAM module, I can play the .avs file in Virtual Dub, and I can play the .d2v file in D2VTest. This wasn't possible before I replaced the RAM (the Avisynth error appeared).

- If I used CBR or One Pass VBR the encoding was OK, but as soon as I used Multi Pass I got CRC errors. After applying the CRC patch the CRC errors are gone but the Avisynth error appears in the encoded movie.

- I tested my RAM and my HD, no errors found

- DVD2SVCD worked on this computer before (still the same hardware and OS) without problems. I can't rembember exactly which version I used then, but it was one of first releases that supported permanent subtitles.

- I have installed DVD2SVCD on another computer and I get exactly the same error. Both computers are Compaq, PIII processors, 256 MB RAM with Windows 2000 SP2 installed. It doesn't seem to make any difference what movie I use or if I use permanent subs or not.

Ideas, anyone?

which other video software you got installed? divx, gordian knot, etc.?
avisynth.dll created may 22, 2001
c:\windows\system32 is what's on my system

verify your registry that it has these key values
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\avifile\Extensions\AVS]
@="{E6D6B700-124D-11D4-86F3-DB80AFD98778}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\Extensions\.avs]
"Source Filter"="{D3588AB0-0781-11CE-B03A-0020AF0BA770}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{E6D6B700-124D-11D4-86F3-DB80AFD98778}]
@="Avisynth"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{E6D6B700-124D-11D4-86F3-DB80AFD98778}\InProcServer32]
@="avisynth.dll"
"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"

http://www.codeguru.com/activex/COMApartments2.html
read the section entitled Rule 1
here's some snipits:
"Consider the case in which two objects-object A and object B-are created from the same DLL. .........But eventually the two threads will probably collide over the shared data, and there's no telling what might happen as a result. "

try changing the ThreadingModel=Apartment to all four of these and rebooting each time and see if you get the error.
ThreadingModel=None
ThreadingModel=Single
ThreadingModel=Free
ThreadingModel=Both

I've got this annoying thing too.
I have tried the registertrick mensioned above, but DVD2SVCD would not run with anything but the default ("ThreadingModel"="Apartment" ).
I would really appreciate the sollution on this....
BTW i tried DVD2SVCD_1.0.3_Setup-Build_5, but this one behave? just the same.

(PS.. I am pretty new in respect of this program so I just might have done something that I should't ......:-))

might be hardware related !!?
I tried to increase the CPU-voltage and I came longer in the movie before this Avisynth thing happened.....:-)
I just increased it by 0.05V, and it got better (but not good enough)results.
I am currently running my CPU 0,2V over the spec....:-)) (1,9V on a Celeron 850@1133MHz)......and yes, I got a relatively huge? cooling device....
(Everything else is rock-stable at stock voltage even at this high overclock.....)

Winroute........:rolleyes:

It is a hardware related problem (at least concerning my computer)
I rised the CPU voltake to the max 1,95V, and the temeratures is under control) and now everything is working perfect !!! :-))

Winroute:) :) :) :) :D :D
