Bought DVD don't play

I just bought U-571, retail. MPC gives me black screen in the main title. mplauyer just show me the keyframes and no sound.

Help!!! :scared:

surface is clean. DVD drive is unpatched, same region as DVD disc.

what's sad is... downloaded DVD would play. that's a shame

using AnyDVD, DVD playback #1. I buy DVD I like and I cannot play them normally. Many thanks Studios :sly:

#1 means "perfectly".

In france people say "Number One" for something "cool".
They even litteraly say "Numbeur Wan" (with a wierd accent) :D

And since mister sirber is from québec ... I suppose he uses that one too ;)
(Reminder: in québec people usually speak english and french).

Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!Turn off "Autoplay" on your system...

Have you tried any other region-free tools... Personally I use DVD43 v3.9.0...

Turn off "Autoplay" on your system... the auto play is a POC licence agrement, like I have on many other DVD I have. Just need to press cancel and it's gone.

I just dug out my original R1 "U571" DVD - and it plays just fine under WinDVD and the ancient MS DVD player. Under VLC, you have to select "Open Directory" instead of "Open Disk" - Likely due to the "PC Friendly" autoplay/install nonsense on the DVD...

i have the same issue with a dvd i jsut recently bought.

it does not play at all on pc with or without anydvd etc but plays fine on my xbox...

very strange i put it down to my pc dvd drive but now after reading this thread its made me think, maybe its something else :)

man, that's so dumb. people are just going to return the discs saying they wont play. they'll get as many (if not more) returns than they would with a plain old bad pressing, only they no doubt paid much more for it.

that's going to hurt the consumers, the distributors, and the licensors. it's a lose-lose-lose situation.

well i probably exaggerate a little. a really bad pressing will have a pretty high return rate :) a slightly bad one may only have ~10 out of a thousand returned.

it's not without precedent to get a few returns because of problems on a PC (though we wouldn't do a recall if PC's couldn't play a disc, and we don't support PCs because they're far too hard to troubleshoot).

No company is going to be "punished" because a DVD doesn't readily play on a PC - because the vast majority of the unit sales will be for playback on standalone players, which are not subject to the protection...
