B frame disguised as P frame?

Would it be correct to assume this is simply a b frame mislabelled as a p frame?
(note: It's me playing w/quanitizers and max b frames, then changing the max b frames on the next encode. :eek: )

Not really. It's just a P frame made up entirely of predicted blocks.

So.. B frames are always fully predicted, P frames can be fully predicted. The difference between the 2 is, a B frame needs a preceding I/P and an ending (P only?) to be decoded? A fully predicted P frame is stand alone?

For 4 years I have simply used the stuff.(Xvid via VFW) and read the quides. I never questioned HOW it was actually done. I've only had a passing interest in how it all worked. So, I don't recall that I have ever given anyone good advice on encoding or posed a question that made people go hmmm.
As a an average user, I'm more interested that it simply works. So many of you developers have gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure it does just that. Now, since Xvid_encraw, I have become VERY interested in how it all works. As you can probably tell, I haven't posted alot over the years, mostly due to my inability to ask reasonably intelligent questions or add any insight to questions already asked.

Anyway, this is a really long winded way of saying thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I appreciate you and your efforts in building an effective program. (As well as all the other people who's programs I use or advice they give).
