Ive been trieng to convert a bunch of avi files all roughly around 350mb. I tried using avi2dvd and canopus procoders option to directly make it to dvd playable files, but the end result of each file is always like 1.4 gigs!
I also just read through another guide and used cce to encode a file and result comes back as a 730MB mpv file.
My question is, is there no way to get my files to be roughly as good as quality/size as the original avi file???
as i have 22 avis to work with and with results im getting it would take up to many dvds.
Also if there is how would i go about doing it, and what do i even do after i have a mpv file from cce output( i have read many guides i just dont understand the complete procedure)?
please bear with me, i would love to learn, thank you

Hi!My question is, is there no way to get my files to be roughly as good as quality/size as the original avi file???.AVIs, using DivX or XviD codecs for compression, are typically two to four times smaller than the same video using MPEG-2 compression (Used for DVD format)...

so if thats the smallest i can get the file, what complete guide would i follow after i create a few mpv files out of the avis to fit the ones i can on a dvd together.
and what program would be recommended.

It would be far simpler to just re-rip your original DVDs and compress with DVD Shrink in "Re-author" mode...

I agree with seta; re-rip the DVD if you want the "best" quality.

... i am not exactly sure where the concept of these avi files being associated with a commercial dvd came from ... but anyhow ...
@ trippinhard
the process of taking your .mpv files and associated audio files and producing a working dvd is known as dvd authoring.
there are many programs that can achieve your aims, from freeware:
dvdauthorgui
muxman
etc etc
through to high-end commercial apps:
scenarist etc etc
take a look at the dvd authoring forum to get a feel for what other forum members are using.
good luck

Judging from the description of the files, I'm guessing it's a season of a TV show downloaded from the internet which he now wants to watch on a set top DVD player...

@trippinhard--For obvious reasons, we're wary of issues where the member "has a bunch of avi's". You've consistently avoided either naming, or defending your source, so it's fair to assume that the source is out of bounds. See the Forum Rules and the Announcement on top of the Newbies homepage.
