I bought this model in ThaiLand. But it only plays file DivX codec, not Xvid and cannot display external subtitles file (*.srt) although I set similar name of file avi and srt. So I must re-encode avi file with Xvid -> DivX codec with subtitle before playing on my sony HT (i'm using Auto GK 2.32b). Could you tell me name of chip inside and how to update new firware for this one to play Xvid codec ? When I'm using Auto GK, I set 60% default, so finally I get file with large size (700MB Xvid -> 1GB DivX with original aspect ratio AR). if I reduce AR, so I get 700MB DivX with lower quality video. Please help me to solve this ? Thanks many in advance ..

Hi!

Although I know nothing about your specific model, I can tell you that SONY standalone units/systems have historically NOT availed themselves to firmware upgrades or software "fixes"...

I would try to change the FourCC code from XviD to DivX in the AVI file without re-encoding it. Search this forum for the appropriate tool which can do it.

I found AVI FourCC change v1.0 in freecodec.com. After change (Xvid -> DIV3). The movie can not display..

I'm afraid you have no other option as to re-encode all your unplayable XviD AVI files to playable DivX files manually. I guess those XviD files of smaller size contain some MPEG-4 features like Qpel, GMC, more than 1 B-VOP, packed bitstream, custom quantization matrices and so on, which your SONY player is not able to handle properly.

Not DIV3 but DIVX.
If you have problems there's a FOURCC changer also together with XviD Koepi builds here (http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml), just install the codec and you get it.

Have a go with Nic's 4CC file changer (http://82.10.220.174/Uploaded_Files/Doom9_Forum_files/Nic's_AVI_4CC_Changer.zip): -

You can type in the textbox MANUALLY whatever you want, no need for other AVI FourCC change software.

As Kypec wrote, my Sony HT coudn't play movie (Xvid->DivX by Nic's 4CC) normally. I watched some frames, it's paused, then skip to others, in while I still heard the audio. Maybe I must be re-encode Xvid to DivX by AutoGK as well as I did. Thanks anyway..
