15fps mov trailer to 25fps or 30fps;smooth motion

Well i have a quicktime trailer with a framerate=15. I have tried to double its framerate & to smoothen out the motion by almost every method that i have encountered. Since, i am just a beginner in avs scripting, i dont know how to use depan & tweaking it. I did try to use the example script given in the avisynth manual (15fps to 25fps progressive) but it didn't work properly as the video was shaking both horizontally & vertically. I have also tried 'framedbl' plugin but the result was still not satisfactory. There was this script that did provide the smoothest motion but it also gave me some macroblock artifacts:

Read the DePan documentation, there's an example script that does just that. Alternatively, you can try this function by Didée (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=863809&postcount=73).

Well Fizick, let me remind u that i hav searched almost everywhere; thats y i am asking for help here! & Chainmax, thanx for ur suggestion. i did use the function u referred & it did provide me smooth motion but there were some problems in the output xvid avi. Actually its the 'revenge of the sith' trailer & so the problem was during the sword fighting scene mainly.
I am not able to find a proper term for that prob but i hav uploaded the trailer for u guys so that u all can look into it & help me in this.

if you really searched almost everywere, you have MVTools v1.4.11
and mvbob script too.

I do hav mvtools & mvbob script but i have already mentioned above that i am just a beginner in avisynth scripting. Mvtools filter has some complicated functions which i am not able to grasp. Thats y i am asking for your help guys. Moreover i hav also posted the link to download the trailer. Its just 6 MB long. dats it. Pls guyz i really need ur help.

forget it.
1) get the trailer in better quality
2) this is15 fps, it shows uneven motion. smoothing this is horrible complicated.
3) these kind of scenes won't look good at all with motion compensation techniques! You'll get artifacting all over the place.

thanx scharfis_brain for looking into this matter. U r right that i will get artifacts prob but just bcos u cant get it right doesn't mean that its impossible. It means that there r 10000 ways that wont work. I know i am talking crap but i am just being wise. Pls dont take it seriously. Anyways, i will continue solving this matter on my own till someone else suggests any solution.

You do realize that scharfis_brain is probably the best person to talk to on this board about deinterlacing / smoothing motion ? If sharfis can't find a good way, good luck to you to unravel a solution :) Anyway your best bet is to use the mvtools, with mvflowfps2 for instance... the doc is not difficult to follow and there are examples...

Sure, it's possible if you're willing to hand-draw all of the intermediate frames that cannot possibly be calculated because there isn't enough temporal information to calculate them.

Since this trailer is on the EP3 DVD, why not just rip it from there and encode it at full quality?

well setarip_old, i haven't tried it using quicktime pro cos i have quicktime alternative installed. Will there b any prob if i install quicktime 7 without uninstalling q.alternative. If there wont b, then i wud surely like to go ahead & try with it.

No ur getting it wrong. I had quicktime pro earlier but later i installed alternative due to which i had to uninstall pro. Anyways, i tried to change frame rate as u had suggested using pro but it didn't turn out well. So i am still stuck. I have already tried using mvflowfps2 & the motion turned out to b perfect but as i hav posted above that the prob using mvflowfps2 gets highlighted during the scene change like actual text gets twisted. Well let me upload the sample avi for u.

Its just a 2MB sample avi that i have created using mvflowfps2. I am not able to tweak the prob. go ahead, watch it & u will see wat i am trying to say.

just get that DVD! you could be happy with a fluent and high resoluted clip.
