when playing a file called: t_crysis_gdc_h264.mov (the crysis preview movie) in Zoomplayer or MPC, using Quicktime Alternative, and ffdshow(also tryed disabling h264 in ffdshow to use coreAVC: same resault though)...

it plays fine in the begining when there very little music, but the farther it plays and the more music there is, the more skipps/lags and becomes out of sync.

VLC plays that file fine without any lag or skipping... Is there something i may be doing wrong that may cause it to not play back correctly with zoomplayer/mpc? or is it maybe just a bug/limitation of the Quicktime Alternative Decoders.... cause VLC usess its own seperate Decoders right?

specs:
2.4prescott
2x1GB pc2700
FX5500 128mb

1st: this is the wrong thread. The right is: Software Players. So perhaps an admin may move this topic.

2nd: Can you give us a link to this file?

3rd: The directshow mov splitters are not perfect (I don't know which one is that QT Alternative using, version ?) but the best is Gabest's mp4/mov splitter.
So if you're using MPC and it's checked in MPC within the "Internal filters" section AND in "Formats" Quicktime filetypes are set to DirectShow, you are using this splitter and not QT Alternative's one, moreover: you don't use QT Alternative at all !

If it won't play this file, it means that the splitter is still buggy at the moment, so you can't play through directshow.

But you can play through Quictime engine: just set back Quicktime filetypes to Quicktime in "Formats" in MPC. (And in this case you ARE USING QT Alternative.)

Hope it helps ...

1. Gabest MP4/MOV Splitter
2. enable "SVQ3" in FFDShow Video Configuration (this isn't a H264 video at all)
3. enable "AAC" in FFDShow Audio Configuration

) i didnt put my thread here a mod did.

) the file is the 38.8mb QT trailer from near the top of this list i believe... http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2509

) I did have QT Alternative properly set in MPC, but i did the reverse of what you said (so i was using MPC's built in MOV splitter) and i enabled SVQ3 like CoRoNe said, and it works without skipping or out of sync.

) I assume i dont need Gabests MP4 Splitter.... because i use Haali media splitter... right?

) the external filter i loaded from QT Alternatives directory into MPCs filter section says: Nero Digital Parser, and Nero Quicktime video decoder... along with a couple others, audio etc.... Is that sapost to be like that? or is it because i also have Nero 6.6 or whatever installed also.

(I assume it has nothing to do with Nero, i didnt install any plugins for nero, but as you can see im a total Noob on such subjects.)

OK. But it's in the wrong place ... :)

It plays fine here, so your setup is wrong.

Do as CoRoNe said above.
1. switch on the built-in MP!/MOV splitter
2. ... 3. ...

These are not the same: both of them can split the newer mov files (QT7:h264+aac), but only Gabest's can split the old ones !
