This has being discussed already ( :search: ) and as far as I got to know, as the space (kbs) needed to rewrite the header was bigger than it was possible to use (i donīt remember quite well, it was some time ago), someone wrote some little ap that would rewrite the header by adding (i believe?) extra space. But the file size ended up altered (like 10% or so bigger than original).
Basically, the easiest way was to decode the AC3 to 6-ch and recompress with a Dolby EX encoder.
