DivX Market Share

I missed one of my favorite tv shows last week and I went out to the bit torrents to see if I could find it. I started looking at the various "entries" for tv shows and movies. Everyone that I saw (on Torrent Spy) was XviD. It has probably been over a year since I last looked, but DivX had a significant presence then.

Has DivX really lost that much market share to XviD, or is this an abnormality?

If you are referring to 'scene' rips, then this is correct. xvid has been the de facto standard for a few years now, Personally I don't think I've seen a single 'scene' non xvid release in the past year.
That said, x264 or original MPEG2 are the formats of choice for HD caps.
